2015 CENTRAL COAST WINE COMPETITION

CASS VINEYARD AND WINERY AS WINERY OF THE YEAR

JULY 29, 2015, PASO ROBLES, CALIFORNIA – The Central Coast Wine Competition announced Cass Vineyard and Winery as the 2015 Winery of the Year at the California Mid-State Fair’s annual Cattlemen and Farmer’s Day. The Winery of the Year award seeks to recognize the winery that presented the most exceptional selection of wines at the Central Coast Wine Competition.

Criteria for selection of the Winery of the Year award required a minimum number of five entries and a ratio based on results criteria.   Cass Winery’s award winning vintages include the 2013 Grenache (Gold, Best of Class), 2014 Marsanne (Gold, Best of Class), 2012 Rockin’ One (Gold) , 2013 Mourvedre (Gold), 2014 Roussanne (Silver), 2013 Rockin’ One (Silver), 2014 Oasis (Silver), 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon (Silver), 2013 Late Harvest Roussanne (Silver) 2013 Brut Sparkling Marsanne (Silver), 2014 Viognier (Bronze) and 2012 Syrah (Bronze).

“It is a great honor to be awarded the Central Coast Winery of the Year in the same growing area that has been recently awarded Wine Region of the World. Especially since Cass Vineyard & Winery is one of the smallest production wineries to have won this award and the first time we have ever entered!” stated Sterling Kragten, Cass Vineyard and Winery Winemaker. “I hope now when people think of great Central Coast and Paso Robles wines they will think of Cass Wines”.

 In its 13th year the Central Coast Wine Competition featured wiover 600 wines entered from wineries as far south as Temecula and as north as Sonoma. Wines produced from grapes grown in the Central Coast American Viticulture Area (AVA), including all of Contra Costa County and extending into Ventura County. The Central Coast AVA produces 15% of the state’s total wine grape production and encompasses over 400 wineries.

The Central Coast Wine Competition is proud to showcase the outstanding wines of Cass Vineyard and Winery.   The display will be featured till Sunday Agusut 2nd at the California Mid-State Fair then headed to the Ventura County Fair starting August 5th and the wines will then debut at the Monterey County Fair starting Wednesday, September 7, 2015.
