Central Coast Olive Oil Competition
THE OLIVE PRESS IS NAMED OLIVE OIL PRODUCER OF THE YEAR
August 5, 2015 PASO ROBLES, CALIFORNIA – The Central Coast Olive Oil Competition is honored to announce The Olive Press of Sonoma as the Olive Oil Producer of the Year. The Olive Press swept the competition in this year’s Central Coast Olive Oil Competition with 10 gold medal oils and awarded four Best of Class and the Best in Show. The Olive Press was the very first olive mill in Sonoma and has grown into a highly awarded olive oil producer throughout the nation. They are committed to producing the highest quality of olive oil along with an array of handmade artisanal products while serving the pressing needs of the community.
Fred and Nancy Cline purchased The Olive Press in April of 2013, at the behest of their dear friend Ed Stolman. He knew that the tradition of integrity, quality, and attention to detail would be carried on by the Clines, who have had 30 years of experience with Cline Cellars Winery, as well as Jacuzzi Family Vineyards, Dillon Beach Resort, The Mizpah Hotel, and Villa Laura.
The 6th annual Central Coast Olive Oil Competition, hosted by the California Mid-State Fair featured 86 olive oils produced from 34 farms within the state of California. The panel of judges evaluated entries based on aroma, taste, and intensity ranging from delicate to robust. Central Coast Olive Oil Competition judges noted very good balance with pleasant aromas and lovely varietal characteristics.
New this year, the winning oils will not only be showcased at the California Mid-State Fair this summer, but also at the Lodi Grape Festival in September. The California Mid-State Fair will feature the winning entries, providing a venue for fairgoers to taste and purchase the olive oils. The California Mid State Fair ran July 22 – August 2, 2015 in Paso Robles, California. For more information and the full list of judging results, refer to centralcoastwinecomp.com/olive-oil/
